Escape to this hand-built Cork cabin with a running stream and plunge pool

By Yay Cork January 13, 2025February 13, 2026

It has the makings of a magical little staycation.

Tucked away in the West Cork countryside, a properly rustic wooden cabin complete with its own fresh water stream and plunge pool is available for romantic weekends, quiet retreats and relaxed weekends with friends.

With hundreds of five-star reviews from previous guests, the cabin is one of the most loved Cork homes on Airbnb.

This rustic beauty is hand-built with love using the traditional post-and-beam method and sleeps four people in two rooms. It’s perfect for those who want to actually disconnect (yes, we mean it) and soak in the scenic magic of one of Ireland’s most beautiful corners.

A quick 10-minute drive will get you to Glengarriff, 25 minutes to Bantry, and about 20 to Kenmare, so there’s plenty to explore, but really, let’s be honest—once you’ve arrived, you’ll probably want to do absolutely nothing at all.

The cabin is compact, but spacious in all the right ways. You’ve got a cosy kitchen that’s fully equipped for all your cooking ambitions (hello, evening feasts). There’s also a washing machine because, yes, even in the middle of nowhere, your jeans can get dirty from the beautiful hikes you’re about to go on. And speaking of hikes—this place is surrounded by stunning walks and drives, just waiting to be explored.

Or, you could just grab a seat on the deck, crack open a cold one, and gaze at the spectacular views for hours.

The vibe? Total zen. You’ve got your own entrance, a garden, a BBQ, and a bonfire pit to make your evenings extra magical. Plus, there’s a running stream and a plunge pool for when you feel like living your best wellness retreat fantasy.

Now, let’s get real for a sec: there’s no TV, because, well, this cabin doesn’t need it. It’s got everything you need—except for those pesky screens that tend to ruin our good times anyway. But don’t worry, the WiFi is decent enough to check in with the outside world (if you have to). Mobile reception? Forget it. This is the kind of place where you’re only answering to nature, not your phone.

“We had the most magical stay at Barbara and Damon’s cabin.” said guest Alice, who stayed in April.

“Waking up to that view is something else! We loved playing games, having camp fires, dipping into their excellent book selection, and braving the beautifully Baltic waters of the plunge pool!”

All in all, this cabin is the perfect base for anyone looking to truly switch off while still being close enough to all the magic that West Cork has to offer.

You can book the entire cabin (two night minimum) over here.
