EATS: 5 days of delicious veggie and vegan lunches to pick up in Cork this week

The life of a veg/an (veggie/vegan) is not always easy.
One of the biggest challenges veg/ans face is finding something delicious to eat when you’re out and about on your lunch break-especially if you forget your carefully crafted lunch at home or you were just too lazy to pre-make it. Again.
Thankfully, it’s easier than ever to find plant-based options all over town these days… and the obsession with goats cheese is a thing of the past.
Here’s a flavoursome list of five options for your weekday lunchtime fix:
Burrito Monday
Burritos are the work of angels and luckily for us, Cork City is brimming with Mexican food restaurants. Burritos and Blues (to get over the Monday blues) serves a flavour packed burrito with all the trimmings including generous helpings of guacamole, cheese, extra veg and four different hot sauce options.
We love it here.
Izz it Tuesday?
Palestinian food is some of the most delicious Levantine cuisine out there and Izz Café on George’s Quay is keeping this wonderful culinary tradition alive on Leeside. Owners Izz and Eman Alkarajeh serve up various dishes such as manaeesh, Palestinian flatbread with delicious fresh toppings, homemade hummus, tabbouleh and delicious sweet treats.
We especially recommend the Manooshet Spinach (and not just at lunchtime).
Wicked Wednesday
Wicked Wholesome in Douglas hits new levels of veggie delight (and naughtiness) with their lunchtime menu. We love to chow down on the Mexican Bean Salad or Middle Eastern Salad for lunchtime – don’t forget a wicked treat to get you through the rest of the day.
Falafel Thursdays
Umi Falafel is our go-to ‘fill me up’ spot where vegetarian and vegan are the only options available. The most popular sandwich is the Palestinian Falafel (our favourite). Bursting with hummus, tomato, pickles, fried aubergine, flat parsley and topped with chilli and tahini sauce, all of this served in a pocket of Palestinian bread.
Other items on the menu include The Lebanese Falafel, a Grilled Haloumi Cheese sandwich and other filling bites to sate your lunchtime hunger.
Check out their menu here.
Sushi Fridays
🎶Where we going to go? It’s sushi, sushi Fridays!🎶
Veg/an sushi is hands down our favourite Friday treat. The wasabi, the soy sauce, the badly handled chopsticks, we love it all!
Take a trip to Dashi Deli Sushi, Wabisabi Sushi and Noodles Bar or the new sushi bar in the English Market, Maki Sushi Rolls, to grab yourself a roll and make Sushi Fridays a tradition.
