Drop by the Community Market and visit the Fashion Pharmacy in UCC this week

You can’t miss it.
Visitors to University College Cork will be greeted by a giant sign made of rubbish collected from within campus this week as a symbol of the waste reduction achieved and the work still to do.
It’s all part of Green Week (March 7th to 11th) which will also see a community market and an afternoon of fun fashion events take place on the Honan Plaza.
According to the most recent figures on university waste management, UCC reduced its overall waste by 56% from 2019 to 2020.
“UCC is an institution that not only actively works in the green space, but we are also aware that we have a long way to go too,” said Alicia O’Sullivan, Environmental Officer for UCC Students’ Union.
“This week is about bringing environmentalism and sustainability to the forefront of UCC students’ and staffs’ minds. With a wide range of events and activities planned, if this is something that you are already interested in or have never heard of before there is something for you.”
Here are three fun happenings to check out this week:
- Community Market
Tuesday, March 8th (10am-3pm)
This Community Market will feature a sustainable marketplace and a celebration of International Women’s Day.
- Fashion Carnival
Tuesday, March 8th (11am to 2pm)
This event will include a creative space, a fashion pharmacy where you can get your perfect style diagnosed, a photo booth, a workshop starting at 11am and a Fashion Kahoot at 1pm.

- Urban Trails
Wednesday, March 9th (1pm to 2pm)
Join UCC Head Gardener Jack Murphy and artist Cassandra Eustace for a creative exploration of the university’s lower grounds. Theyll be identifying and recording some of the distinct trees and plants that can be found on the main campus.
