Down West, a new dog-friendly restaurant serves some unreal cauliflower hot wings

They just opened on Bridewell Lane
Al’s Diner is the latest West Cork dining hotspot to dish out scrumptious delights and roll out the welcome mat for our four-legged pals.
Located on Bridewell Lane in Bantry, the dog-friendly diner is the brainchild of Chris Heinhold and Emer Kelly, the dynamic duo behind the charming West Café Wine Bar in the town

The pair also ran the much-loved TableTop café on Castle Street in Cork City, which closed in 2020.
Al’s Diner, which opened its doors just this week, introduces a fresh approach to dining. Think buffalo cauliflower hot wings with a kick, creamy vegan milkshakes (pure indulgence), and pimped-up chilli fries.
And the best part? Just like its big sister, West Café Wine Bar, Al’s Diner welcomes calm and well-behaved dogs.
Chris, a seasoned expert in crafting unique dining experiences, told Yay Cork that they are determined to bring something new to Bantry’s food scene.
While West Café Wine Bar shines with breakfast, lunch, and tapas, Al’s Diner is adding a fresh twist to evening eats.
During the winter, they’ll be serving up dinner from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 5pm until 9pm. As the seasons change, keep an eye on their socials for expanded opening days.
Oh and don’t miss the homemade American pies (key lime, Boston cream, and pumpkin) for dessert.
