Douglas Street is closing for its annual autumn street party (and we’re all invited)

It’s one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Cork.
But Douglas Street, known locally as ‘the village in the city’, has another claim to fame; it’s also known for having a mighty community spirit and throwing one of the best seasonal shindigs in town.
The community has announced its annual Autumn Fest will take place on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, when the road will close to traffic and the street will come alive with circus performers, live music, comedy and colour.

Kicking off at 12 noon on the day, entry is free and everyone is invited to swing by and soak up the atmosphere while sipping a coffee al fresco or grabbing a bite to eat.
UpDown Circus Festival will be premiering Now and Then, “a hilarious aerial adventure about an unlikely friendship between a no-nonsense elder and a social-media-obsessed insta-model” – a heartwarming story of connection in a disconnected world.

The street’s busy bars will be rocking for grown-ups, with plenty of magic and mayhem outside for little visitors to enjoy.
“Expect laughs, gasps, and a whole lot of community magic.” the organisers shared on social media.
“Bring the family, bring your friends, this is Cork at its most vibrant!”
