Cork’s newest restaurant will only serve one (delicious) type of comfort food

It’s an excellent time of year to launch.
As the days grow chillier, Cork’s newest restaurant is about to open with an entire menu consisting of steaming hot stews.
The aptly named Stew Store will be firing up the hobs at the Marina Market in Ballintemple on December 1st, 2022.
Chef Tabrez Shaikh, who has worked as executive chef in some of Cork’s best hotels, as well as luxury resorts around the world, is hoping to entice fans of hearty meals and cold-weather comfort food down to the Marina Market for a variety of stew-based recipes.
Happily, the category is pretty broad and there will be more than the traditional Irish meat and spuds on the menu.

Stew Store will have a selection of seven filling hot dinners on the bubble on any given day, including the South African fast-food classic Bunny Chow, which is served inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread.
Plant-based eaters will be treated to dishes such as vegan stifado, a Greek stew made with red wine, herbs, and spices, while seafood fans can try an Indonesian prawn and mussel laksa.
If it’s the classic Mammy dinner you’re after, their beef and Guinness stew comes packed with chunky root vegetables and aged Irish beef.
“You choose a stew and you pick two sides of your choice from our delicious sides options,” Tabrez told us.
“Fast food can be good, hearty comfort food.”
