Cork’s Midsummer Parade will whoop through town with a series of mad contraptions

It’s guaranteed to be a spectacle.
Cork Community Art Link has once again been commissioned by Cork Midsummer to present the 2023 Midsummer Parade, scheduled for Sunday, June 18th, 2023.
This year the fun is kicking off earlier than usual at 3pm, making the free event ideal for younger children to enjoy.
According to the organisers, The Blackpool Express convoy, in the tradition of the greatest travelling shows, will come to town with a “motley crew of weird and beautiful contraptions, dancers, performers, Cork’s stories and characters with rhythm and passion, giving back to the street its imagination, right in the heart of our city”.

Over 200 participants will help make the magic, with volunteers and community groups such as Suisha Inclusive Arts, Blackpool Community Access Program, National Learning Network and Blackpool Men’s Shed collaborating with Art Link artists to create floats, costumes, and displays.
“Expect fantastic performances from Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, SK VYBZ Kareen Salcede dance company, Circus Factory, CCAL Drama Troupe, and more, to be announced,” they added.
The free parade will begin at 3pm on Sunday, June 18th, and travel down the length of Oliver Plunkett Street, finishing with a series of performances on Grande Parade outside the City Library.
