Cork Weather: Dry and sunny to start the week (but don’t make any outdoor plans)

By Yay Cork December 15, 2025

It was a wet and wild weekend.

And we can expect a bit of everything from the weather for the week ahead — a decent start, before things turn soggy just as the Christmas rush ramps up.

Today (Monday) begins on a fairly pleasant note. According to Met Éireann, any early mist or fog will clear away, leaving a mostly dry day with bright or even sunny spells for many. There’s a small chance of the odd Atlantic shower sneaking in, but for the most part it’ll be a good day to get out and about. Afternoon temperatures will reach between 6 and 10 degrees, with only a light breeze to contend with.

Tonight stays largely dry too, with long clear spells making it feel quite chilly. Temperatures could dip close to freezing in places, with a touch of frost possible and some mist or fog patches forming overnight.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, continues the dry theme through the daytime. Expect plenty of sunshine and just the odd isolated shower. It’ll be cool, with highs of 4 to 9 degrees, but still fine for getting things done. However, cloud will start to build later in the day — a sign of what’s to come.

Here comes the rain again

From Tuesday night onwards, the weather takes a turn. Rain and drizzle will spread in from the west overnight, with strengthening winds and blustery conditions along coasts. Wednesday looks milder but unsettled, with outbreaks of rain clearing east and scattered showers following — not ideal if you’re darting between shops.

Thursday is shaping up to be the wettest and windiest day of the week, with spells of heavy rain and strong wind. Showers could be heavy at times too, adding an extra challenge for anyone squeezing in last-minute Christmas shopping.

Friday may offer some improvement, with brighter spells and fewer showers, but the overall picture stays changeable into the weekend.

So, if you’re planning a big shopping trip, today and tomorrow are your best bet — because once midweek arrives, umbrellas will definitely be required.
