Cork Weather: A mixed bag, but some balmy August sunshine to enjoy too

It’s a grand start to the day here in Cork.
With dry conditions and a few sunny spells popping through across Munster, if you’ve any outdoor plans or a coffee-in-the-park moment in mind, this morning is the time to do it.
As we head into the late morning and afternoon, the cloud will start to roll in from the west, gradually thickening up. By this evening, that cloud will bring some rain – so don’t be caught without the brolly if you’re out and about later on.
Temperatures will hit a comfortable 17 to 19 degrees today but rain will spread right across the county tonight and may turn heavy in spots before clearing out overnight. It’ll stay mild, with temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees.
The good news is Thursday’s looking up. Expect a bright day with sunny spells and just a few scattered showers here and there. Those showers will ease off by evening, leaving things dry and pleasant to round off the day. Temperatures will rise to between 17 and 20 degrees, with a bit of a breeze coming in from the west to southwest.
Looking ahead
The rest of the week is shaping up to be a typical Irish summer mix – a bit of this, a bit of that. Thursday night stays mostly dry with some clear spells, especially inland. Friday brings a scattering of showers and a bit more cloud by evening. Saturday leans on the damp side with patchy rain and drizzle.
Sunday’s the pick of the weekend – warm, humid and mostly dry with sunshine trying to break through in the east and south. Expect temperatures up to 23 degrees, perfect for a stroll or pint outdoors.
Bottom line? Keep the sunglasses and the umbrella handy – it’s that kind of week.
