Cork to Milan: 5 of the most romantic Airbnb listings to book now

Dreaming of warm sunshine and cold gelato?
Ryanair will be flying direct from Cork Airport to Milan Bergamo for about €60 one way this summer. Starting in June, the flights will depart on Thursdays and Sundays until August- ideal for a mini break.
Milan is often overshadowed by Rome in terms of romance, but it’s actually packed with dramatic vistas and magnificent piazzas where you can sip Aperol Spritz near beautiful fountains.
As Italy’s fashion capital, Milan’s Via della Spiga is bursting with designer goodies if you’re in the market for something special, but it’s a brilliant city to visit on a budget too.
Who needs dinner when the aperitivo buffet features pizza, cheeses and tiramisu?
To pass time between meals, there’s a treasure trove of world famous art to take in, not least Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, but you can fill your Insta feed with street art for free in the Isola neighbourhood.
Here are five fabulous places to stay:
1. THE FLYING HOME
Local artist Giuseppe’s fabulously unique home is truly one of a kind. Firstly, the double bed is suspended in the air. There are breathtaking views from both patios and downstairs, you’re in the heart of the cool Naviglio neighbourhood, which is packed with brilliant bars and restaurants. Oh… and did we mention the ping pong table?
2. THE ROOM OF THE CLOUDS
This is a shabby chic pick but as far as memorable stays go, this atmospheric, art-strewn flat. Owned by a family of circus artists, the walls are painted in magical scenes; the bathroom is a jungle, the kitchen is a pergola with vineyard and the guest room is in the middle of the clouds.
Please note that a cat does live in the apartment so you musn’t be fussy about sharing.
3. THE ROOFTOP APARTMENT
This elegant third-floor hideaway is a two-bed gem, just a ten minute walk from Milan’s Cathedral (Duomo). Start your day with coffee on the veranda before nipping across to the Piazza San Giorgio for breakfast at Cioccolati Italiani.
Later on, before strolling the streets in search of the perfect dinner spot, catch the views of a Duomo over a drink on the top floor of the Rinascente in Piazza del Duomo.
You check in with the doorman so if this is your first Airbnb experience (or you’re booking for your parents), you/they are in the right hands.
4. THE MODERN LOFT
Explore the Porta Venezia area and its lively streets before returning to the cool tranquility of this beautifully designed loft.
All the action (shops, clubs, bars) is nearby and you’re surrounded by gourmet trattorias and places of historical interest such as Villa Necchi Campiglio.
5. THE SUITE DELLA TIGRE
If it’s a proposal or a special surprise you have in mind, this first floor apartment is a winner. Located in Via Borgonuovo, in the heart of the fashion district, the home is named in honour of the huge gold leaf tiger that adorns the wall in the dining room.
The two bedrooms are utterly luxurious. In fact, you may not want to leave at all.
