Cork set for ‘mini heatwave’ as temperatures soar to 23C this weekend
By Yay Cork
Honestly, we deserve it.
It’s been a relatively dreary start to May, but Cork is about to get a proper taste of summer this weekend.
After a fairly grey and drizzly Friday (with a side of mist and sea fog for the coast), temperatures are set to climb steadily across the next few days, with Cork looking at highs of up to 23 degrees by Monday.
Saturday will kick things off with dry, sunny weather across most of the county once any early fog clears, and while coastal areas could stay a little cooler thanks to sea mist, inland spots are shaping up very nicely indeed with temperatures reaching 20 degrees.
By Sunday and Monday, things get even better. Met Éireann is forecasting “warm or very warm conditions” nationwide, with Cork expected to enjoy long sunny spells, light breezes, and highs between 18 and 23 degrees.
In other words: beer garden weather has officially entered the group chat.
A warm and generally dry weekend ahead

There is still some sea fog hanging around southern coastal areas in the mornings, so if you’re anywhere near the coast don’t panic at 9am — the sunshine should break through later in the day.
Pollen levels are staying low for now, while the UV index is expected to hit moderate to high, so yes, this is your reminder to locate the suncream you bought last year.
Basically, if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to cancel your indoor plans and sit outside for six straight hours, Cork’s mini heatwave has arrived at exactly the right time.
