Cork-made vodka announced ‘Best in Ireland’ at the World Drink Awards

We’re known for many great drinks in Cork.
Traditionally, however, vodka hasn’t been one of them… until now.
Rebel City Distillery has announced that its Maharani Pomelo Vodka has been named Best Irish Vodka at the 2026 World Drinks Awards, marking a major milestone for the Cork-based producer.
Distilled at Rebel City Distillery in Ballintemple, the vodka impressed judges with its vibrant citrus character and smooth finish, securing the top Irish honour in the vodka category ahead of the global finals later this year.

Crafted using pomelo peels, the premium vodka is bottled at 39.6% ABV and is designed to deliver bright citrus notes balanced with a crisp, clean finish. The recognition highlights the distillery’s commitment to producing distinctive Irish craft spirits with a strong emphasis on flavour and quality.
“This is a huge moment for our small team in Cork,” said Bhagya Barrett of Rebel City Distillery. “We are proud to see Maharani Pomelo Vodka recognised at this level, and we are grateful to everyone who has supported us on the journey.”
What’s next for the Rebel City crew?
The national title means Maharani Pomelo Vodka will now progress to the global stage of the World Drinks Awards in June, where category winners from around the world will compete for international honours.
Founded in Cork, Rebel City Distillery has built a growing reputation for innovative spirits that combine local craftsmanship with bold flavour profiles. The latest accolade is expected to further raise the profile of both the distillery and Irish vodka on the international stage.
