Cork is getting its first Pride rainbow crossing

It’s high time we had our own.
In a first for Cork, and with sights set on Pride weekend this summer, a rainbow crosswalk is on the cards for the city.
Funding has been secured to install the iconic design on a Cork street after motions, put forward by Councillor John Maher and Councillor Lorna Bogue, were accepted by the council.
👏A welcomed step forward as it was confirmed funding is secured & pedestrian options in Cork City are being explored to install first Pride 🌈 crossing in #CorkCity following my motion below 👇

The first permanent rainbow road crossing in Ireland was unveiled in Arklow in December, with Limerick installing one on a pedestrian crossing next to Limerick City and County Council’s offices in February.
All that’s left to do is find a suitable location for Cork’s crosswalk. Wherever it ends up, it’ll surely be an attraction for Instagrammers and tourists.
