It’s raining anyway so you might as well get soaked.
While summer 2020 is a washout in many ways, the outdoor fun is continuing at two huge inflatable water parks in Mallow and Coachford… and there’s still time to plan a visit before the start of the school year.
The 40m squared inflatable water parks are run by Ballyhass in old quarry lakes in Mallow and in the Lee Valley Harbour on the Iniscarra Dam in Coachford.
Although capacity has been reduced in accordance with Covid-19 safety measures, they’re both open for business.
Each park invites kids to jump, slide, bounce and race each other around the wipeout style courses. The best bit? Grown-ups are welcome too- ideal for torching some of that lockdown weight gain, especially if you’re avoiding indoor gyms.
There’s four-metre high slides, huge climbing walls, blast bags, balance logs, trampolines and a giant catapult to play with
Entry is €20 per adult and €15 per child under 18, including wetsuit hire, buoyancy aids and a 60-minute session on the Aqua Park. Pre-booking is required but there are sessions available throughout the day from 10am until 7pm. Same day bookings can be made by phone on 022 27 773.
If a leisurely dip is more your speed, Ballyhass also has a Public Swim Area open seven days a week, from 12pm to 5pm.
It’s a great way to dip a toe into the world of freshwater swimming; there’s no booking required and €7 gets you two hours in the crystal clear water, with a lifeguard on patrol at all times.
