Cork dog owners are sharing the local spots with the best welcomes for furry friends

By Katie Mythen-Lynch September 17, 2024October 22, 2024

‘Staff served our dogs first!’

This is the kind of service that’ll have dog owners in Cork grabbing their leashes and racing towards your cafe, bar, or restaurant.

Now Cork pet lovers are sharing their favourite dog-friendly spots, from eateries where you and your furry friend can share a pizza to coffee shops and bars that go the extra mile with water bowls and treats for thirsty canine visitors.

Members of the Facebook group People From Cork and their Dogs have been dishing on the Leeside venues that truly roll out the red carpet for a red setter,

Here are the spots they’re loving:

Cafe Moly, Douglas Street, Cork City

While there’s no outdoor seating at this popular coffee shop, dogs are welcome inside.

“Might not be suitable for large dogs due to cramped spaces but staff are happy to see all breeds visiting!” the customers said.

“Water is available at the door for the four-legged guests. AMAZING coffee and pastry selection, an absolutely delicious range of goodies. Proper coffee connoisseurs with lots of blends to try and a friendly chat to be had!”

Fionnbara, Douglas Street, Cork City

A longtime favourite amongst folks who like to drink and eat pizza with their dogs, Fionnbarra boasts a big heated beer garden and has water bowls available for guests of the furry variety. “The staff are so kind and welcoming to dogs.” the reviewer noted.

Impala, Paradise Place, Cork City

This chill bar earned praise for its “great vibes and lovely staff,” with water bowls, treats and plenty of cuddles to be had to visiting dogs.

“The bar can be quite busy on the weekends but there’s lots of nooks and crannies dogs can be safely placed in to stay out from underfoot,” they added.

Alchemy Coffee, Barrack Street

“Called into Alchemy on Barracks Street the other day and in the five minutes it took me to order pay and receive my coffee, there were four dogs in and out of the shop PLUS the two I had with me! Talk about a local dog-friendly spot!”

Four-legged friends are guaranteed a welcoming vibe at this Barrack Street spot.

The Green Frog Cafe, Western Road, Cork

“Green Frog were more than happy to see our pack rock up, and offered water and snacks to the doggos!” the happy customers reported. “The humans got their coffee and cake and the greys got all the attention they could ask for!”

The Bookshelf, South Mall, Cork City

A small, busy coffee shop located in a historic library, this space has seating inside and out, with dogs welcome in both.

“A bit tight for my noodle horse but staff are super friendly and don’t might having small ponies in store.” the reviewers report.

Apparently, staff are happy to see dogs of all sizes as long as they are well-behaved.

Vicarstown Bar, North Main Street, Cork City

A traditional Irish bar with both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a semi-covered beer garden at the back, dogs of all sizes are welcome inside and out and staff are always happy to see them visit.

“Water is available for the four-legged guests. Can be quite busy on weekends or when live music is playing, but a lovely spot for a casual drink during the week.” added the reviewers.
