Recent research consistently shows that cities which invest in cycling infrastructure benefit not only environmentally, but socially and economically. Studies have found that increased cycling reduces traffic congestion, improves air quality, and lowers carbon emissions, while also delivering significant public health benefits through increased physical activity.
Urban areas with safe, accessible cycling facilities also tend to see higher levels of local spending, as cyclists are more likely to shop locally and visit venues regularly. For large sporting events, cycling infrastructure can ease pressure on car parking and public transport, helping venues manage crowds more efficiently.
