Cork cafés are launching special reusable cups for all those summer iced coffees

Iced mocha season is nearly upon us.
But if the idea of enjoying your favourite drink in a whopping great single-use plastic cup is putting you off, there’s some good news on that front for summer ’24.
2GoCup, which tackles single-use waste with a €2 deposit and return coffee cup scheme currently running in a number of Cork cafés, is now introducing 2GoIced.
The BPA-free chiller cup has a lifespan of over 1000 uses and it’s 100 per cent recyclable at the end of its life.
“After years of requests, the 2GoIced is finally here!” the company announced, revealing that the new cup is available for business owners to order now.
Napoli Coffee & Wine Bar in Monkstown have already announced they’ll be using the iced cups from May on, with more businesses expected to follow suit.

“Like all our other products, the 2GoIced cup will work via a deposit and return scheme. The system is the same as always for our cups, just deposit €2, enjoy and return the empty cup to any of our members for your full deposit returned! Keeping the system circular with reuse and the avoidance of single-use packaging.”
No iced drink would be complete without a straw so they are also introducing a 2GoStraw! The straw is sold separately for a one-time purchase of 20c.
“Unlike our other products, customers hold onto their straw for life as they are not part of the deposit and return scheme.” they added.
