We’re coveting the team water bottles.
A piece of artwork created by Cork-based artist Shane O’Driscoll in celebration of Team Ireland’s Olympic Centenary is being used across various team elements as part of the Olympics.
Describing the opportunity as “a huge honour” the artist revealed his vibrant design, which features metallic gold ink, is being used in team equipment and other parts of the campaign.

“I was awarded a residency with Team Ireland Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris a few months back and they wanted to include my artwork within their campaign,” O’Driscoll said.
“The abstract composition includes elements from sports fields, integrated colours of France and Ireland and also the gold, silver and bronze of the medals.
Alongside Canvaz, Shane is one of two ‘Artists in Residence’ for Team Ireland at its post-competition athlete base, the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris’s fifth arrondissement.

“It’s a huge honour to be in Paris during the games with the Team and there will be more creative antics ahead over there! It’s been an amazing opportunity to work on this and I’m really looking forward to seeing it throughout the Olympics when in Paris as an Artist In Residence.”
If you’d like to own a little bit of Olympic history, to celebrate Team Ireland’s centenary, a limited edition of 100 signed prints (€250 each) are being released by Shane O’Driscoll for purchase on his site.
