Cork artist Susan Mulcahy is cheering everyone up with her neon custom portraits

Sometimes you just need some neon in your life.
If the post-lockdown, pre-pub opening, wearily monotonous schlep into summer 2020 is starting to harsh your buzz, one Cork artist has a trick up her sleeve that’s guaranteed to turn your frown upside down.
Illustrator Susan Mulcahy has been illuminating her customers and their best mates in neon, creating custom portraits and prints that will make your walls pop more than a boring old photo ever could.
With a BA in Visual Communications, Susan’s work includes graphic design, packaging and branding, but now she’s added fun portraits to the mix under her Saucy Pups brand and honestly, they’re just a frikkin’ delight.
As well as custom portraits, she also sells fabulous illustrations of Cork landmarks.
If your living room or hallway is ready for a new focal point, this 30cm x 30cm print of Fountainstown will drum up fond memories of childhood beach trips every time you look at it (€40 including delivery – email info@saucypups.com to order).
Meanwhile, custom prints are a brilliant way to cheer up a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while or mark someone’s birthday or a special occasion when the usual celebrations might have to be postponed for a while.
Susan takes commissions so you can tell her your idea or send her a photograph and she’ll bring it to life in glorious blazing colour. And yes; as a serious dog lover, she will definitely immortalise your pet if you ask her.
