City parking spots will be turned into pop-up PARKS for one day this month

It all started in San Francisco.
Now, Cork will once again be one of 180 cities worldwide to allow artists, designers and citizens to take over paid parking spots in town for a one-day transformation.
PARK(ing) Day will take place again this year around the streets of Cork city and various county towns on Friday, September 20th.

Previous events have seen greenery and decking appear on Washington Street, a barbecue garden pop up on MacCurtain Street and a picnic table and seating set up on the Western Road.
Local businesses got on board to dish up snacks to visitors enjoying a little piece of the countryside on roads normally reserved for traffic.
Well done to our friends @unboundireland and @vibesandscribes for a fantastic parking day space! #parkingdaycork #Victorianquarter pic.twitter.com/8ndhmpYPcn

This year is extra special with the addition of The People’s Parklet on Douglas Street.
As part of Culture night, Cork Flower Studio will be running a flower arranging event at The People’s Parklet at 4pm.
