Chop, chop: This Cork workshop could inspire your new career as a barber

It’s never too late to change careers.
Even if you’ve never found a footing in a specific role, a week-long celebration of adult learning happening this week across the country could provide the inspiration you need to look into trying something new.
And if you’re a dab hand with a razor and a creative type, an Introduction to Barbering day might be a good fit.
The one-day workshop is being run free of charge at the International Institute of Barbering and Salon Business, 17 Douglas West, Douglas Village, Cork, on Thursday, March 7th from 10am to 4pm.
‘Everyday Learning Spaces’, where adults who return to education can learn safely and feel supported, are being celebrated in Cork this week during the AONTAS Adult Learners’ Festival.
‘People can learn in a way that suits them’
“Everyday learning spaces help people with real-world challenges, whether that is struggling with new technologies; needing to balance learning with caring or other responsibilities; or needing specific support with learning,” said CEO of AONTAS, Dearbháil Lawless.
Ms Lawless encouraged people to check out the events in Co Cork and engage in the theme, saying: “This year’s festival is spotlighting the everyday spaces that mean that people can learn in a way that suits them. Learners are the focus and take an active role in shaping these spaces. We invite people in Co Cork to check out the events taking place and to learn about the transformative power of adult learning for people and communities.”
Participants will find out how studying barbering can offer valuable life skills as well as an appreciation of male grooming
