Brewed Awakening: A fun one-day workshop offers a cyclist’s guide to craft beer

Are you a cycling enthusiast with a penchant for a pint?

Combining the thrill of the open road with the artistry of craft beer, this one-day Beer Brewin’ and Bike Workshop on December 7th, 2024, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process, followed by a leisurely bike ride through the picturesque Irish countryside.
The event, hosted by Bike Fit physio John Phelan MISCP, promises a day filled with camaraderie, knowledge, and beer tasting.

Participants will start their day at 9.30am at the Life Fit Studio, Upper Ballygarvan, where they’ll be introduced to the basics of brewing and provided with a brewing log sheet to document the process.
Once the grain is soaked in the mash tun, the group will embark on a one-hour bike ride, taking in the local scenery. Upon their return, they’ll dive back into the brewing process, collecting the wort and initiating the boil.
As the brew progresses, participants will have the opportunity to sample a variety of beers, including the stout they’ve been crafting, or enjoy a coffee. And once the yeast is pitched, the group will enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
The event concludes with a friendly farewell, with organisers urging participants to prioritise safety and choose cycling or taxi services if they plan on indulging in the homemade brew.
Tickets are €50pp. Cycling enthusiasts and beer aficionados alike can sign up over here.
