At this Cork on a Fork event, everyone makes pottery while talking about food

Feeling a need to slow down a little?
If your idea of a great afternoon involves getting creative rather than rushing from one thing to the next, this Cork on a Fork event could be right up your street.
Savour & Sculpt is coming to the Cork Biodiversity Hub in Ballincollig on Friday, August 14th, bringing together ceramics, seasonal food and mindful living for a two-hour workshop that’s all about embracing a slower pace.
The experience pairs local ceramic artist Martha Cashman with food educator Cathy Fitzgibbon, better known as The Culinary Celt, for an afternoon that explores the connection between creativity, food and everyday rituals.

Participants will get the chance to create their own ceramic dipping bowl during a hands-on pottery workshop, before diving into conversations around seasonal eating, sustainability and creating more meaningful moments around the table.
Rather than focusing on recipes or cooking techniques, the workshop encourages people to think about how they eat, the value of slowing down and the simple rituals that can make everyday meals feel more intentional.
As Cathy Fitzgibbon puts it: “Food is about much more than nourishment – it connects us to place, people, traditions and the natural world.”
Taking place from 2pm to 4pm, the event is one of the more unusual additions to this year’s Cork on a Fork programme, offering a creative escape for anyone looking to try something a little different.
Tickets (€39) are available now here, with an optional €12 fee if you’d like your ceramic bowl professionally fired and finished after the workshop.
