Anyone can learn how to fix a button at this useful little Cork city class

It’s time to remedy those wardrobe malfunctions.
Remember that killer vintage dress you snagged online? The one that looked like a dream on the screen, but upon arrival revealed a gaping hole under the arm?
Now you can learn how to patch it up, lickety-split.
Jola Katke of Artisana in the Winthrop Arcade, Cork City, is hosting a Button & Seam Repair Workshop: the ultimate antidote to the fast-fashion blues. This is about reclaiming your wardrobe and learning some killer life skills, all for €30 on Wednesday, September 11th from 10am to 11.30am.
We’ve all experienced the horror of a rogue button popping off mid-meeting or a seam spontaneously declaring its independence. But fear not! Under the sage guidance of our sewing superhero, you’ll be a button-replacing, seam-slaying ninja by the end of the afternoon.
“Whether you’re a sewing newbie or a seasoned pro, this event is perfect for anyone looking to enhance their skills,” says Jola.
“We’ll cover a few styles of button replacement, ripped cotton seams fixing, and a few hand-sewing stitches.”
Plus, you’ll get a mini repair kit, which is basically like having a fashion emergency hotline tucked away in your handbag.
All materials are provided and you can even bring along an item you want to repair too. Tickets are available here.
