Another cosy new wine bar just opened on MacCurtain Street

MacCurtain Street is having a moment.
And now, wine lovers and foodies have more reasons than ever to make a trip to the old Victorian Quarter with the opening of a cosy new bar.
If you’ve strolled down MacCurtain Street lately, you might have spotted the freshly painted shopfront at No.39 – a stunning restoration that retains the old facade, glasswork and signature moulding.
Nell’s Wine Bar is a new independent, sustainably minded, boutique wine and food bar that is welcoming old friends and new faces through its doors this week.

You can savour more than 45 wines by the glass, with bites from a curated menu of locally-sourced small plate dishes like Garam Masala Almonds, Hake Fritter and Templegall in homemade tea brack- all while listening to the mellow beats of eclectic and 90s trip-hop tunes.
It’s been a dream come true for owners Aine and Gavin Conaghan as summer begins, with the promise of outdoor seating in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you’ll find us in the lounge, surrounded by old Victorian decor.
Nell’s joins MacCurtain Wine Cellar, opened just down the street by Trudy Ahern and her husband and business partner Sean Gargano at the start of the month, as well as a host of other award-winning bars and pubs in one of the most interesting parts of Cork city to hang out in.
Nell’s Wine Bar is open from 4:30pm until 11:30 pm Tuesday to Thursday, 4:30pm – 12:30pm Friday to Saturday and from 4pm-11pm on Sundays.
