An entire herd of buffalo is missing from Toons Bridge Dairy

UPDATE 1.45pm: According to a post on the Toons Bridge Instagram feed, the buffalo have now been recovered.
The owners of a well-known Cork dairy company say their entire herd of buffalo was stolen from a field in West Cork this morning.
Jenny Rose and Toby Simmonds, owners of Macroom’s famous Toonsbridge Dairy and The Real Olive Company in Cork’s English Market, posted the shocking news on Instagram:
“IMPORTANT Our beautiful herd of buffalo were stolen this morning from a farm we rent in Barleyfield, Kilbritain, Cork.”

According to the farmers, who hand make cheeses with local fresh cow, sheep and buffalo milk, the theft was intercepted by one of their employees who arrived to work in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“Our young milker arrived this morning to milk as usual to find the yard full of men and trucks and would not let him in.”
“The buffalo had been loaded into trucks and trailers.”
The farmers, who shared a photograph of a vehicle they believe may have been involved in the theft, say the animals need regular milking or they will be in pain and become ill.
