An East Cork family farm is opening to lavender pickers for one weekend only

It’s a stunning spot for some family photos.
For one fleeting weekend, Joe’s Farm Crisps in Killeagh is inviting visitors to swap the supermarket bouquet for something a little more special, with a limited-time lavender-picking experience among its fragrant purple fields.
Guests can wander through the lavender beds, snap a few photos beneath the flower arch and soak up the scent before farm owner Joe Burns personally hand-cuts bunches of fresh lavender to take home.
Available on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th from 10am to 3pm, (€30 car entry and one bunch of lavender, €10 per bunch of extra lavender), it’s a rare chance to catch the lavender at its peak, with the blooms only sticking around for a short window each summer.

Whether you’re hunting for your next Instagram backdrop or simply looking for an excuse to spend an afternoon outdoors, this might just be one of the sweetest little day trips on Cork’s summer calendar.
Joe’s Farm Crisps was established in 2014 as a family-run farm and makes vegetable-based crisps from a mix of carrot, parsnip, beetroot and potato.
“From sunflower picking to pumpkin picking, we love to invite families along to our farm to enjoy a day out in the fields and come away with something homegrown,” Joe told us.
“The lavender picking is the latest addition to our lineup of events. Lavender is at its most colourful and fragrant this time of year, and it doesn’t last long, so make sure you take advantage of the good weather this weekend by stopping by the farm.”
There is no booking needed for the lavender picking. The farm and lavender picking are wheelchair- and buggy-accessible along grass and stone pathways. Leave canine companions at home, though – there are no dogs allowed on the farm.
