An adorable new baby and toddler swim class is about to launch in Cork

By Yay Cork March 14, 2024

Brought to you by Happy Cubs.

It’s a skill for life.

Learning how to swim has a raft of impressive benefits for babies and toddlers and now a new swim class is about to show Cork parents just how easy it is to get started.

With five popular locations in Dublin, Happy Cubs Swim Cubs baby and toddler swim classes are coming to Cork this spring.

The first term in the cosy Enable Ireland hydrotherapy pool just off Curraheen Road are already filling up for April.

Early pool time builds confidence and a connection with the water. Happy Cubs offers 30-minute, child-led classes designed for little ones to learn to swim through fun and grow a lifetime love of the water.

Founded by swimming instructor Jane Walker, a mum of two, Happy Cubs boasts nearly a decade of experience welcoming little swimmers, just like yours.

Three age-specific programs cater to your child’s development:

  • Baby Cubs (2 months – 17 months): Gentle introduction to water through playful activities.
  • Toddler Cubs (18 months – 3.5 yrs): Builds confidence and basic water skills through fun songs and toys.
  • Big Cubs (3.5 yrs – 4.5 yrs): Introduces fundamental swimming skills in a supportive environment.

Small class sizes and a warm pool ensure a comfortable and personalised learning experience. Your bear cub will progress through each ten-week term as friendly expert teachers guide both children and parents, fostering valuable swim techniques, water safety awareness, and potentially lifesaving skills.

“Swim Cubs classes are a fun family activity promoting happiness. Your little bear cub will learn how to interact with other babies and toddlers in the class and, of course, their lovely teacher.

“This helps build early social skills and independence,” they told us.

“Our modern world is so focused on results, performance and goals. But we believe the focus should be on building happiness, trust and experiencing joy with our bear cubs.”

As well as being a lovely bonding and confidence-building experience, swimming strengthens your baby’s heart and lungs and helps to build strong muscles and joints.

Oh, and did we mention they’ll have so much fun they’ll also sleep much better? A major bonus in our book.

Happy Cubs Swim Cubs classes take place at weekends, every Saturday and Sunday. The new term begins on Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th, 2024 and the cost is €230 for a 10-week term. To join a class visit the Happy Cubs website happycubs.ie.

All teachers are fully qualified swimming teachers and lifeguards and everyone working on-site for Happy Cubs is fully Garda-vetted.
