All the cool people are knitting. This Cork craft shop will show you how to start

We all love a bit of #grandmacore on TikTok.
There’s a lot to be said for a slower, simpler, and more comforting lifestyle. Think floral dresses, making your own bread, pots of tea on the go, comfy jumpers, and mending.
That’s why we are loving the idea of a two-week beginners knitting course at Vibes & Scribes on Bridge Street, running on Saturdays October 7th and October 14th.
Each class is an hour long and there is a choice of times — 10am or 11.30am. A perfect little slice of mindfulness to start the weekend off.
And don’t take our word for it, everyone from Michelle Obama to Ronnie Wood has been click-clacking away lately.
Cork comedian Maeve Higgins has long been a knitting advocate. In her adoptive home of New York, she is showing the world the virtues of the craft through her gorgeous creations on her Instagram.

Back Leeside, it’ll be instructor Ursula McGrath sharing her love for knitting in the workshop, having designed and written her own knitting patterns. You’ll even get a chance to make a long scarf; perfect for the chilly nights and some casual showing off to friends and family.
Week one is all about getting started and learning the basics. Then week two is about fixing mistakes by asking questions on any challenges you faced.
Get your tickets for the course here, priced at €25 which includes the wool itself and knitting needles.
