ALDI has revealed all the last-minute items everyone buys on Christmas Eve

By Yay Cork December 23, 2025December 16, 2025

It’s worth double checking.

ALDI has revealed the items that topped their customer’s shopping lists this time last year, forming the ultimate Christmas essentials checklist.

December 23rd, 2024, went down as ALDI’s busiest shopping day of the year, as households across the country flocked to stores to secure everything needed to ensure Christmas dinner and seasonal hosting ran smoothly. After all, nothing ruins Christmas faster than forgetting the batteries for the kids’ toys, the cream for the Christmas pudding, or the champagne that makes the celebrations sparkle.

New data from ALDI Ireland reveals that Brussels sprouts are expected to be the undisputed star of Christmas in 2025, with estimates based on last year showing that a quarter of the month’s stock was snapped up in the two days before the 25th.

This year, they expect a similar pattern. Here’s the list:

  • Brussels sprouts – and we said we didn’t like them
  • Fresh Cream – a little dollop makes everything merrier
  • Champagne – notions so we have
  • AA Batteries – no tears on Christmas morning
  • Cranberry Sauce – we didn’t forget you existed
  • Cling Film – wrapping up leftovers like a pro elf
  • Spuds – the versatile star that never disappoints
  • Gravy – no explanation needed here
  • Sliced Pan – duh!
  • Olive Oil – got to get those roasties crispy
  • Tin Foil – the shiny shield for your festive food!
  • Washing up liquid – those pans won’t wash themselves
  • Kitchen roll – helping you survive the great Christmas cooking mayhem
  • Black bin bags – Dad’s favourite tool for tidying up Christmas chaos
