It’s one of our favourite coffee shops in Cork.
After a rocking start however, the Alchemy by the Lough crew have closed their gates in order to carry out important building work to cater for their growing clientele.
The mainly outdoor cafe, which serves hot coffee from a repurposed horse box on The Lough Road, was issued with a closure order by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) in July after it was found to be in breach of food safety regulations.
Announcing the closure on their Facebook page, the Alchemy crew said:
‘We had hoped to work away serving out of the horse box but the authorities have advised us we need full facilities including staff toilet and hot water in every sink etc. So we have to close as there is a lot of work to do.
‘So it’s REVAMP and REBOOT guys – thanks for keeping us company in the sunshine these past few months. See you all soon.’
We are counting down the days until they reopen.
