A wasp nest forced Cork’s biggest playground to close again this morning

Come back tomorrow.
That was the message from Cork City Council today after the playground in Fitzgerald’s Park was forced to close just hours after it re-opened today.
As Cork kids excitedly arrived for their first trip to the playground in months, some unruly wasps had other ideas.
The play equipment was cordoned off once again as City Council workers rushed to remove a wasps nest that had appeared in the playground during the lockdown.

Parents have now been assured the problem will be dealt with before tomorrow.
Meanwhile, all other parks and playgrounds in Cork are now open, but it might be wise to have a quick check for critters in the nooks and crannies if you’re the first to arrive in the morning.
