The River Lee has announced the next in its series of Exclusive Wine Dinners – an evening with winemaker and owner of Château La Baronne, Anne Lignères and Group Sommelier of The Doyle Collection, Philip Dunne.

The event takes place on Tuesday, October 11th at 7pm in the glamorous surroundings of The Grill Room at The River Lee, celebrating organic and sustainable wine practices, with Anne sharing the ethos and history of Château La Baronne throughout an evening of delicious wine and food pairings.

What’s on the menu?

Beginning with Cork cheese gougerés canapés paired with Château La Baronne Rosé 2020, the menu, created by Head Chef at The River Lee, Paul Lane, also includes oysters with zingy Nam Jim dressing matched with Château La Baronne ‘Le Grenache Gris de Jean’ 2019.

Grilled gambas with garlic and butter paired with Château La Baronne ‘Juste le Rouge’ 2021 are next, followed by a delicious braised wild pork cheek, fermented barley and jus accompanied by Anne’s fourth wine choice, Château La Baronne Grenache 2015.

Roast Skeaghanore duck, ratatouille and cherry jus are paired with a Château La Baronne ‘Les Lanes’ 2019 and the fifth and final course is a delectable selection of local Cork cheeses with chutney and crackers, perfectly matched with Château La Baronne ‘Piece de Roche’ 2017.

“Château La Baronne comes from the heart of the Occitania region at the foothills of Montagne d’Alaric, with husband and wife duo Jean and Anne at its helm,” they told us.

“Jean is the GP in the small village of Moux, Corbieres, and divides his time between his doctor’s surgery, the vineyard and the cellar. The couple continues the legacy of their family estate by giving the utmost respect to the environment and its biodiversity, following the philosophy of Biodynamics. Jean and Anne do not use synthetic chemicals in their vineyards, and were certified as Organic in 2007.”
