Halloween is going ahead in Kinsale.
While trick-or-treating and children’s parties are strictly forbidden because of the Covid-19 restrictions, a group of car enthusiasts in the seaside town have come up with a novel way to ensure the occasion doesn’t go by without some socially distanced fun this year.
Kinsale Vintage Car Club and Kinsale Chamber have joined forces to organise a Spooky Spin that will see a parade of cool cars visit every neighbourhood in the area (within 5km, of course).
Travelling under cover of darkness, the classic motors will be driven by a variety of scary characters, from zombies to vampires, so kids can peek out the window or find a perch on the doorstep to observe the creepy cavalcade.
“Families and children of all ages are asked to dress up and enjoy the Spooky Spin from their homes and neighbourhoods.” the Club told their social media followers.
“Due to safety measures and guidelines, families will be asked to enjoy the parade from their homes or local areas and can’t join the parade in any way to ensure this is done in a safe but fun manner. Unfortunately, we cannot distribute sweets etc. due to guidelines.”
The route will be announced in the coming days so keep an eye on the Kinsale Vintage Car Club Facebook page for updates.
