A popular beach coffee trailer is about to open a new permanent home

Build it and they will come, that’s the mantra, right?
Unless it’s raining. Then you might find that nobody at all comes to visit your beachside coffee trailer.
That was the dilemma facing Shane Goggin and his wife, Sinéad when they purchased DRIP coffee truck at the Warren beach in Rosscarbery.
The business does a roaring trade in the summer, opening seven days a week, and serves hot drinks to brave sea swimmers and beachcombers every weekend over the winter.
“After buying the DRIP in the winter of 2021, I quickly realised that the weather at the beach was either our best friend or worst enemy,” Shane told Yay Cork.
“We would try to open every weekend but as soon as the rain would start, people naturally wouldn’t come near the beach. We would try to open every weekend regardless but would have to close early. It was very frustrating that the weather had such an impact.”
Shane, a Rosscarbery native, spent two winters listening to his customers telling him how Rosscarbery desperately needed a coffee shop: “It was constant so I decided that we should be the ones who open one.” he said.
“We identified Doswell Gallery, which sits at the head of the town in Rosscarbery in the most beautiful location. It was a gallery owned by Chris Doswell but had been shut down for a number of years.

“I called Chris in November of 2022 and my wife, Sinéad and I went up to meet her. She has been an absolute pleasure to deal with and has been all for it.”
The new Drip Coffee shop will open on The Square in Rosscarbery this Saturday.
“It’s a coffee shop with a retail space in it incorporating (with our own twist) the old gallery that once occupied the space,” Shane reveals.
“I’m from Rosscarbery myself so I’m beyond excited to set up in Ross. It has turned out really well and I can’t wait to show people what we have been working on.”
For the last eight months, the team has been busily working on the new venture and this weekend, the new café will open its doors to the grateful locals. Visitors can expect lashings of West Cork Coffee, home baking, and fresh scones daily.
“We are having an opening party with Rosscarbery hero and Munster star, John Hodnett cutting the ribbon for us on July 8th at 11am.” said Shane.
