A pop-up library is opening in Douglas this week

Here’s some good news for Douglas folk.
A pop-up library will be opening in Douglas Community Centre this week for the first time since the majority of the books in the local library were destroyed by fire.
Located on the first floor of the Douglas Shopping Centre, the Douglas Library was severely damaged in the August blaze, which ripped through the car park, destroying cars and putting more than 50 local traders temporarily out of business.
As staff sort through almost 40,000 soot-covered items that were damaged in the fire, a brand new collection of books is now available for lending to members.
The pop-up library will operate in Douglas Community Centre from Thursday, November 7th, running weekly on the following part-time schedule:
- Thursdays (2:30pm-7:30pm)
- Fridays (10am-1pm)
- Saturdays (10am-4pm).
