A new toddler play area is now open in this busy Cork shopping centre

FYI, toddler parents.
The popular free soft play area in Douglas Village Shopping Centre is now open in a new spot, offering a chance for kiddos to blow off some steam before or after the grocery run.
“We’ve relocated.” the Douglas Village team announced on Instagram.
“Very excited to welcome you all to our new toddler play area in the centre, located next to Tesco. Looking forward to seeing lots of smiling faces playing down here.”
The colourful play area features soft blocks and mats for rolling and tumbling, with a fun mural decorating the walls and a large track for driving toy cars around. It’s free to use but unsupervised so children must be watched by parents and guardians at all times.

However, not everyone is happy about the new location. Many local parents have expressed concern about the play area’s proximity to the lifts, a high-traffic area where shoppers push heavy trolleys towards the car park.
“Very silly location, do they realise how fast toddlers are?” asked one commenter, posting in the Douglas Now Facebook Group.
One suggestion is that a corridor may be created to prevent foot traffic from intermingling in the area, but in the meantime, parents should keep an eagle eye on little ones as they enjoy the free fun during the next shopping trip.
