A new guesthouse ‘getaway for design lovers’ just opened in Ballydehob

By Katie Mythen-Lynch July 12, 2024July 12, 2024

There’s always something happening in the ‘Hob.

And now there’s another cool place to stay the next time you nip down west for a gig at Levis’ or a fancy dinner at Chestnut; the folks behind the Native Landscape Hotel development have launched The NATIVE Guesthouse, an adults-only getaway for design lovers in the heart of West Cork.

The guesthouse is the first element of Didi and Simon Ronan’s broader sustainable cabin development opening in spring 2025 and if it’s tranquillity and a break from the grind you’re after, you’ll find it here.

Designed by Studio SRLA with concept input from illustrious architects, the house has been renovated to the highest standards, keeping with the vernacular tradition but with modern details and a focus on quality natural materials, like local timber, hemp, and ceramics.

The NATIVE Guesthouse has three comfortable en-suite bedrooms: two en-suite Double bedrooms upstairs, and one accessible Patio Room downstairs. The bedrooms have a desk, mini bar, tea and coffee, and bespoke bed linen.

Guests can enjoy a living room and dining area with music, fresh coffee, cakes, and art and photography books. Picnics can be pre-ordered and guests can even avail of custom raincoats and hats to accompany them on their adventures – super handy, given the temperamental Irish weather.

Ballydehob is a top-notch gateway to a wild adventure. Nestled on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way and the dramatic Mizen Peninsula, the charming village is the perfect base for exploring West Cork’s rugged beauty.

With vibrant market towns like Skibbereen, Bantry, and Schull just a short drive away, and island paradises like Cape Clear, Heir Island, and Sherkin beckoning offshore, Ballydehob is where land and sea magic collide so it’s a perfect spot for a mini break all year ’round.

Rooms are available to book now for September and October (€350 for two guests for two nights) over here.
