A new East Cork affordable housing development is about to open for applications

Applications open next week.
Cork County Council is inviting prospective homeowners to apply for new two and three-bed houses in an affordable housing development called Tir Cluain, which are being offered at a discounted rate, from noon on Monday, September 2nd, 2024.
The development of 13 A-rated, family homes is in a residential location within walking distance of Midleton Train Station and the town’s Main Street.

Constructed by O’Mahony Developments, the houses will generally be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home (although a small number of exceptions apply) and Fresh Start Applicants.
How does Affordable Housing work?
Through the Scheme, purchasers will enter an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with Cork County Council. Under this arrangement, the Council will retain a percentage equity share in the dwelling, equal to the difference between the market value of the dwelling and the price paid by the purchaser, expressed as a percentage of the market value of the dwelling (a minimum of five per cent).
Applications for the scheme will be accepted until 12 noon on September 23rd, 2024 via the online application portal on Cork County Council’s website.
