A new coastal market will run as part of Volvo Cork Week in Crosshaven

We love a nose ’round a market.
And if that market happens to be set up in a scenic seaside location, it’s all the more enticing.
That’s why we’ll be taking a trip or two down to Crosshaven during Volvo Cork Week in July – The Royal Cork Yacht Club is putting a focus on sustainability at this year’s event with a new coastal market selling crafts and clothing at the venue.
The best time to check it out will be the Volvo Cork Week Family Day on Sunday, July 10th (12pm-5pm) when you can expect loads of fun, education, and nautical adventures for families across the whole village of Crosshaven from the Royal Cork Yacht Club to Camden Fort Meagher and everywhere in between.
There will be coastal walks, boat trips from Hugh Coveney Pier on the Cailin Or, competitions and games aplenty, as well as a family workshop with marine scientist, best-selling author and Volvo Car Ireland Brand Ambassador Finn van der Aar at 1pm.
Finn is passionate about helping people to live more sustainably and presents crucial environmental and oceanic research in a way that is understandable to all.
A week of nautical fun
The Family Day kicks off a week full of activity for Volvo Cork Week 2022. Racing within the harbour at the world-renowned regatta will take place from Monday, July 11th to Friday, July 15th and includes four championship events – the 1720 European Championships which will include over 40 1720 boats that were designed in Cork, the Irish Cruiser Racing Association (ICRA) National Championships, the Dragons South Coast Championships, and the SB20 Nationals.
Later on, the renowned Beaufort Cup for international uniformed service personnel encompasses a race around the Fastnet Rock and back to Cork.
If you want to catch a glance of the boats in action, the recommended viewing points include Camden and the Church Bay in Crosshaven, the new Haulbowline Island Amenity Park, Ringaskddy as well as the promenade in Cobh.
