Got any plans for Valentine’s Day?
Nope – us neither.
But if you’re looking for a way to keep the kids (and yourself) occupied for a few hours on Sunday, February 14th, one local creative has just the thing.
Cork-based artist Declan O’Meara will be teaching a free online class in how to make your own personalised jewellery, including key rings, beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
“You can attend the class on your own, with your kids or with your loved ones, in a shared fun bonding experience for all,” says Declan, who also runs classes in painting, collage and clay modelling.
Participants will also learn how to make felted and clay beads and how to fix broken jewellery – you might even find a way to put an old treasured heirloom back into rotation.
The recommended materials for this workshop are:
- Round nose pliers
- Earring hooks, headpins, eye pins, clasps, crimps
- Elastic, thread, string, wire (such as tiger tail)
- Selection of beads
“All the materials are available from your local craft shop or online but feel free to up-cycle what you have at home.”
