A host of cool acts are playing an Oíche Mná fundraiser for an important cause

It’ll be a night of music, empowerment, and community.
A variety of excellent performers are coming together to play a unique fundraiser in one of Cork’s most famous music venues.
Connolly’s of Leap will be hopping on Friday, September 27th as The Kates, Rita Lynn, Molly O’Mahony and Ellen O’Meara take the stage as part of Oíche Mná, the first of many nights under this name curated by Mary McNicholl, to raise funds for the West Cork Women Against Violence Project, now called West Cork Beacon.
The charity offers free and confidential listening, information and support services for women experiencing domestic violence.
Formed to pay homage to trailblazing women in music, five-piece The Kates, from West Cork, comprises of Eve Clague, Liz Clark, Mary Beth O’Mahony, Míde Houlihan and Paula K O’Brien. Their new EP Pictures Here of Dreams is set for release on September 20th.

Using sparse accompaniment and breathy vocals, North Cork’s Rita Lynn hopes to convey a language she sees woven in the natural Irish landscape, while Molly O’Mahony has opened stages for Mick Flannery, Damien Dempsey, Mary Coughlan and Soda Blonde, to name but a few and is currently developing her second album.
Ellen O’Meara is a singer-songwriter from Westmeath whose music is born from a fusion of her lived experiences and serves as a poignant reflection of societal norms, challenging the confines of unrealistic beauty standards and spotlighting Ireland’s political regression.
Her music gained recognition through Tiktok, and her recent single, Body Issues, was featured on the RTÉ Radio One Recommends alongside artists like Hozier and The Libertines.
“Your presence and support will contribute to vital services that empower women and create safer communities.” say the organisers.
Tickets are €22 and you can book yours now here.
