A flotilla of Irish currachs will ‘Row for Palestine’ up the Lee this weekend

Head out and support them if you’re in town.
A flotilla of traditional Irish currachs will take to the waters of the River Lee in Cork this weekend as part of a peaceful demonstration calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and greater humanitarian access for Palestinians.
The event, titled “Row for Palestine,” will see a group of Cork-based rowers make their way up the north channel of the Lee on Saturday, October 25th, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, in what organisers describe as a “colourful and symbolic act of solidarity.”
Participants are hoping to draw public attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to call for “an immediate and lasting ceasefire, unrestricted aid delivery, and the right of Palestinians to determine their own future.”
Among those taking part are Donna Shwarz and Paddy O’Donovan, both of whom recently participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza, an international initiative aimed at raising awareness of conditions in the region.
Spectators are encouraged to gather along the quays to show their support as the flotilla makes its way through the city.
