A Cork park will open at 5.30am this Sunday so bird watchers can enjoy the dawn chorus

Ever wondered why birds sing?
Bird song has fascinated humanity for thousands of years and still resonates with people now. Of course, birds sing for their own purposes, and, across the Northern Hemisphere, spring is the peak time to appreciate this phenomenon.
This Sunday, there’s a unique opportunity to really hear their music when Cork Nature Network hosts the Dawn Chorus 2022, led by local birder Harry Hussy in partnership with the KinShip Project at Tramore Valley Park.
“If you have ever wondered why birds sing, want to improve your ability to identify birds based on their sound, or just want to enjoy the experience, then come along to the Tramore Valley Park.” the groups say.

The Dawn Chorus is the latest event held as part of KinShip, an art project aimed at developing a sense of connection between the people of Cork and the ecology of the 170-acre park, a former landfill site.
It’s completely free to attend, just register here.
The group will meet at 5.30am at the Tramore Valley Park Half Moon Lane entrance on the South Link Road.
