A Cork dad has created a pure Cork version of The Three Little Pigs, complete with a narrated video on YouTube.
The traditional fairy tale has been rewritten plenty of times since it was first published in The Nursery Rhymes of England (London and New York, c. 1886), by James Halliwell-Phillipps, but this might be the first time one of the piggies builds his house under the Shandon Bells.
Mallow-based dad Darragh O’Regan came up with the idea when his son became “obsessed” with the classic story.
“He loves everything about the three little pigs and the big bad wolf,” O’Regan told Yay Cork.
“So I decided I wanted to make something from me to him that would last forever that he could enjoy.”
Darragh compiled all the artwork using online royalty-free resources, adding music and sound effects, and creating all the visuals before narrating and editing the video himself, adding Cork landmarks such as the Shandon Church and the English Market.
The result is adorable and you can pop it on for little ones here:
“I work in IT but this is just a hobby – so far,” he added.
“I have plans to build a collection of Cork-based stories and adapt to other Irish cities too by creating new landmarks.”
