A Cork chef is opening her ‘dream’ café on a Cork beach this summer

Her honestly box bakeries are a roaring success.
Now local baker Anna O’Leary is growing her tasty empire by opening a bricks and mortar café in one of our favourite summery spots.
The Flour Patch Café will open at Owenahincha Beach in the coming weeks, bringing “good coffee, homemade food, warm vibes, mismatched cups, sea air and a space that feels special” to the area.

Locals and day-trippers in the seaside neighbourhood of Castlefreke and in Kilmichael will continue to enjoy The Flour Patch ‘honesty box’ sheds where you can buy cookies, brownies, cakes, cookie bars and some more traditional items like brown soda bread, scones, tarts and crumbles.

Meanwhile, Anna will also be stocking her new cafe with an array of delicious bakes made with free range eggs, local milk and lots more produced on her family’s farm in Kilmichael.
‘A dream come true’
“It’s always been my dream to have a cafe because I don’t get to meet a lot of my customers with the honesty box system.” Anna told Yay Cork.
“I didn’t think an opportunity would come my way this quickly with such a great location but when it did I thought there was no moment like now.
I will be serving Three Fools Coffee and plan on being a bit extra with the coffee menu with things like all homemade syrups and specials with extras like cold foam.

“As for the menu, everything will be made from scratch by me using local ingredients and seasonal produce from our family farm. I plan on opening with coffee and cake and introducing new items as the weeks go on. Both honesty box locations will still be open at the weekend also.
