A brand new outdoor off-lead dog arena just opened in Inniscarra

By Yay Cork August 18, 2025August 22, 2025

Most dogs love an off-lead run.

But letting your dog run free in a public park can get you in a lot of trouble (and an on-the-spot fine for control violations of €300) and that’s where on local business has stepped in to help.

Dog trainer Esther of TopBarkz has launched an outdoor, sand-surfaced arena in Bridgestown, Inniscarra, just outside Ballincollig.

Offering private hire through the week and guided weekend social sessions, the Green Acres concept is designed to support responsible dog ownership at a time when Ireland’s dog-control laws are growing stricter.

“For Cork dog owners, that means there’s now somewhere local where dogs can safely be dogs: off-lead, active, sociable—and always within sight and guidance.” says Esther.

“It’s not just about having room to run—it’s about dogs learning to play, interact, and respond confidently in a managed environment.”

Esther’s new arena—a fenced area with a gentle sand surface—offers more than just convenience. Sand aids traction, cushions paws and joints, and remains firm and safe even in damp weather.

“It’s ideal for focused recall work, confidence-building exercises, behaviour training, and allowing nervous or reactive pups to thrive in a secure setting.”

Pop in for a social session

On weekends, Esther leads €15 small-group social sessions in the same arena—segmented by dog size and temperament, giving participants a balanced mix of play and training under close supervision.

Unlike free-for-all dog fields, these sessions combine all-important off-lead interaction with an expert eye to help reduce anxiety and strengthen recall in real-world environments.

Regular socialisation like this supports mental and emotional development in dogs, helping curb fear-based aggression and encouraging better responsiveness under distraction—a factor increasingly important as Ireland’s legislation evolves.
