Cork jewellery brand Ivy’s Attic is closing its original Marina Market store

By Yay Cork August 12, 2026

It’s the end of an era.

Popular Cork jewellery shop Ivy’s Attic is closing its original shop in the Marina Market, having used the location to build a thriving business with two stores.

Ivy’s Attic first began life as a small stall selling pre-loved and vintage jewellery at the Marina Market in September 2020. Six years later, the business has grown into a lifestyle, accessories and gifting brand with outlets in both Douglas and Wilton.

Owner Séan Layton shared the news on social media, reflecting on how the business began with his sister Jane on the Marina Market’s opening day.

“We hoped we might sell a few pieces. After months of lockdown, it was a welcome distraction and a reason to get back out into the world. Little did I know, it would mark the beginning of an incredible six-year journey.”

As one of the market’s original vendors, Séan said the Marina Market allowed Ivy’s Attic to grow “slowly and organically” over the years.

“It’s where we met so many of you for the very first time, and where so many of you returned again and again,” he said.

The past year has marked a major period of growth for the Cork business, including a complete rebrand and the opening of the Douglas and Wilton locations. The new shops have allowed Ivy’s Attic to expand beyond its original jewellery offering, becoming a destination for lifestyle products, accessories and gifts.

‘We’ll always be grateful’

But the growth has also brought a difficult decision, with the business confirming that its Marina Market store will close for good on August 23rd.

Séan said the closure marks “the end of one chapter” rather than the end of Ivy’s Attic, with customers encouraged to continue supporting the business at its stores in Douglas and Wilton or online.

He also thanked everyone who supported the business from its earliest days at the Marina Market.

“To everyone who has ever stopped by our stall, made a purchase, recommended us to a friend, or simply had a chat with us over the years: thank you!” he said.

“You helped build Ivy’s Attic into what it is today, and we’ll always be grateful that it all began in the Marina Market.”

The team is now encouraging customers to call in over the next two weeks before the Marina Market chapter comes to an end.

And there could be a little something extra for those making one last visit, with Séan teasing that there may be “a few treats and special offers” on the final weekend.
