Jetting off somewhere nice? Cork Airport is throwing a food festival market this Friday

Cork Airport is getting in on the city’s biggest foodie celebration of the year.
A brand new outdoor market is popping up right on the airport plaza this week.
As part of the upcoming Cork on a Fork Fest, which runs across the city from August 12th to 16th, the airport will host Flights & Bites on Friday, August 14th, from 12pm to 6pm.
The free-to-attend event will transform the main outdoor plaza into a buzzing food festival featuring a selection of top local artisan food vendors, speciality coffee, and sweet treats. To set the ultimate holiday mood, local singer-songwriter Cathal Fitz will perform live music throughout the afternoon.

Whether you are catching a flight, touching down back home, or just looking to soak up the festival atmosphere, anyone can stop by the plaza to grab a bite on a pay-on-consumption basis.
The special pop-up is supported by the Cork Airport Community Fund, which has backed Cork on a Fork Fest since its foundation. This year, the fund has committed to 15 socially progressive partnerships across local arts, culture, tourism, and sports organisations throughout the region.
“Cork Airport is thrilled to be a partner of ‘“Cork on a Fork Fest ’, supported through our Community Fund,” said Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director of Cork Airport.
“We never take for granted the importance of quality food to the visitor experience, and with over 60% of Irish artisan producers located in the wider Cork region, we are proud of that heritage.
“We commend Cork City Council for this food festival, which has now formed an important part of the visitor calendar for our region, and we encourage passengers travelling next Friday to enjoy some artisan food outside the terminal before their flight!”
If you are passing through the airport terminal this Friday, make sure to head out to the plaza to catch a delicious taster of Cork’s iconic food culture before you take off.
