A city-wide trail of kids’ play pods and cosy dens is now open for exploring

What would Cork look like if kids were in charge?
That’s one of the questions posed by a fun, interactive new trail that families can check out for free as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival.
PlaySpaces trail leads families on an exploration of secret hideaways and imaginative play installations developed by artist Chris Finnegan in collaboration with children from across Cork City:
“Curl up with a book in your own reading pod at Cork City Library, people-watch from a treehouse in Cork Opera House, or let your imagination run wild at the Everyman Theatre,” reads the open invitation to local kids.

An exhibition at Sample-Studios Gallery, The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion in Fitzgerald’s Park, will take you behind the scenes, sharing insights into the child-led design process. But remember, these are child-only zones where adults can peek in, but kids rule!”
The trail is spread across four of Cork City’s best-loved cultural venues, giving visitors the perfect excuse to explore the city centre this summer. Artworks can be viewed at Cork Opera House, Cork City Library, St. Peter’s Cork and The Everyman, with all locations now open to the public until August 22nd.
Don’t forget to pick up your own copy of the child-illustrated map at each venue, designed by Cork artist Jason O’Gorman. You can also download one here.
